From 1 August 2019, the Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP) will be live across the globe. Over the past year you may have read or seen articles about the Qantas Channel and NDC, and have some questions about both of these. To help simplify this information, we’ve created this handy guide to help explain what the QDP and NDC are, and most importantly how you will benefit as a Corporate Traveller customer.
What is NDC?
NDC (New Distribution Capability) is a new, modernised data transmission standard, developed by IATA, that enables airlines to provide dynamic personalised offers and distribute products to market faster and with greater flexibility.
We are committed to offering the widest range of content seamlessly for all customers, across all booking channels, so we have been working in partnership with Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport and leading airlines to ensure our customers maximise NDC benefits.
What are the benefits of NDC?
NDC is expected to provide multiple benefits for corporate buyers such as the ability to book extra products through a Travel Management Company (TMC) which were only available through the airline direct, and additional price points may enable closer comparisons between airlines in times of peak demand.
What is the QDP?
The QDP (Qantas Distribution Platform) is an NDC-enabled Application Programming Interface, offered by Qantas to approved technology partners, for distributing bespoke offers. The QDP enables travel agency partners such as Corporate Traveller to access content both through traditional distribution technology (GDS) as well as any content made available through the QDP.
In February 2018 Corporate Traveller extended its long-standing relationship with Qantas by agreeing to become part of the airline’s new Qantas Channel.
What does this mean for you?
By being a member of the Qantas Channel all of our corporate and leisure customers and consultants globally will have access to a full range of Qantas fares, product information and new content. This will include fares sourced from the QDP.
